Election Information

Next Election:  The City of Columbus will have a primary election for the office of Mayor on August 1, 2017.  

Four candidates have filed for Mayor and voters will vote for one candidate and the two candidates receiving the most votes will advance to the general election on November 7, 2017.  Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Columbus Community Building.  Advance voting by mail and early voting in person at the Courthouse will begin on July 12, 2017.  Early voting at the Courthouse will end on Monday, July 31, 2017 at NOON.  The last day to request an advance ballot by mail is July 25, 2017.  The last day to register to vote in the primary election is Tuesday, July 11, 2017. 


The general election for the City Councils, Hospital Boards, and School Boards will be held on November 7, 2017.  

The candidate filing period closed on June 1, 2017 at noon.

RULES CONCERNING VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED WITHOUT PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP

This notice covers persons who have applied to register to vote and have not yet provided proof of citizenship.  Due to recent court rulings, if you have applied to register to vote at a Kansas Division of Motor Vehicles office or if you have applied to register to vote using the "Federal Form" voter registration application (as opposed to the standard 'state form') and have not yet provided proof of citizenship, you are registered to vote for the November 8, 2016, general election.  Your name will appear on the poll book for your voting location and you will be given a standard ballot.  There is nothing further you need to provide subject only to further official notice.
