Election Information

NEXT ELECTION:

The general election for City Councils, Hospital Boards, and School Boards will be held on November 7, 2017.  

The last day to REGISTER TO VOTE is October 17, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.  The registration books will remain closed until November 8, 2017.

Advance Voting by mail and Early Voting in person at the Courthouse begins on Wednesday, October 18, 2017.  The last day to request an Advance Ballot by mail is Tuesday, October 31, 2017.  

Early Voting ends at NOON on Monday, November 6, 2017 in the Cherokee County Clerk's Office.  

Voted Advance Ballots being returned in person must be returned by 7:00 p.m. on election day to any polling place in the county or to the County Election Office.  Voted Advance Ballots being returned by mail must be postmarked by election day and received no later than Friday following the election in order to be counted.

RULES CONCERNING VOTER REGISTRATION APPLICATIONS SUBMITTED WITHOUT PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP

This notice covers persons who have applied to register to vote and have not yet provided proof of citizenship.  Due to recent court rulings, if you have applied to register to vote at a Kansas Division of Motor Vehicles office or if you have applied to register to vote using the "Federal Form" voter registration application (as opposed to the standard 'state form') and have not yet provided proof of citizenship, you are registered to vote for the November 8, 2016, general election.  Your name will appear on the poll book for your voting location and you will be given a standard ballot.  There is nothing further you need to provide subject only to further official notice.
